JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is asking shoppers to be mindful this holiday season, warning that lottery tickets are not appropriate gifts for people under 18.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) is partnering with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to launch a Gift Responsibly campaign this holiday season. The campaign aims to combat youth gambling and increase awareness about the harm gambling can cause, according to a news release.

“Lottery tickets can be fun presents or stocking stuffers, but we want to remind everyone that they are never appropriate gifts for anyone under 18,” said Sharon Strong, executive director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. “Please be mindful as you’re shopping for your loved ones.”
