CUMBERLAND – A pending agreement between the town and the state will see Cumberland take another side road off the hands of the state, which continues looking to trim down its portfolio of assets it has to care for.
The rehabilitation of Sneech Pond Road, which is presently owned and maintained by the state, has been in planning for the last few years. In January of 2023, the Town Council approved a resolution to enter a construction, maintenance, and ownership agreement with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
As reported by The Breeze at the time, the state had agreed to repave Sneech Pond Road and replace the Sneech Pond Road Bridge if the town took ownership of the bridge going forward.
