Florida State University freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard and his attorneys are announcing a lawsuit on Wednesday against the apartment complexes where he was shot in the head as he drove by.

On Aug. 31, Pritchard was dropping off his aunt and niece after a family party. He drove past the Havana Heights Apartments and Riverside Apartments when he was shot at in a case of mistaken identity, police said.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and was released to the Brooks Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville. He was released from the facility in early November.

The complaint claims negligence against the apartments and the owners, saying that they didn’t provide adequate security and failed to warn tenants about prior incidents of gun violence and drug trafficking.
