Two people have been taken to hospital and one man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a two-vehicle crash.

Emergency services were called to the A182 Kite Road in Seaham after a two-vehicle crash on the westbound carriageway on Wednesday (November 26) at around 12.40pm.

Durham Police has confirmed that the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The force said a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

Traffic updates on AA Maps show that the road remains partially blocked due to the crash, with delays in the area.

The site reads: "Partially blocked and slow traffic due to crash on A182 Westbound before A19 (Murton Interchange)."
