Robin van Persie has branded Feyenoord's Europa League showdown with Celtic as the Wim Jansen derby, writes Michael Gannon from Rotterdam. ‌

The De Kuip boss paid an emotional tribute to the Dutch legend – who is a hero to both clubs. Jansen won the European Cup with Feyenoord as a player – beating Celtic in the 1970 final in the San Siro – and went on to serve as a coach and boss when van Persie was coming through the youth ranks. ‌

The Dutch master is also hailed a legend in Glasgow as the man who halted Rangers' bid to beat Nine in a Row and the current gaffer admitted tomorrow’s clash will be a fitting tribute to his old mentor who passed away in 2022. ‌
