Bea Gaddy Family Centers in Baltimore has served thousands of Thanksgiving dinners for more than 40 years, but this year has brought new challenges.
One of the challenges that Executive Director Cynthia Brooks has seen is that the number of people needing food has gone up.
“The people that we normally help – those numbers have grown,” Brooks said. “We are getting phone calls from so many seniors that need food.”
Previously, the center distributed meals to families at Patterson Park, but it has moved locations this year because the park is too far for many older adults.
“We are moving to the American Legion Post 285 at 2324 McElderry Street and we are going to start serving the public at 12 o’clock this year,” Brooks said.
