Seniors Maximo Zavaleta of King and Braelyn Combe of Santiago have come close to winning individual state cross country titles, but Saturday will be their last chance to do so.

Zavaleta and Combe will be two of the Inland athletes to watch at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Zavaleta and Combe are both coming off CIF Southern Section Division 1 titles last Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College. Combe will be making her fourth trip to state cross country. She placed fifth and third the last two years.

Zavaleta is making his third trip after finishing seventh and fourth the previous two years.

Zavaleta is excited to be joined by his King teammates. King made it as a team two years ago but not last year.
