The lingering cost-of-living crisis heightened even further by the benefits interruption during the recent federal government shutdown has motivated many in Warren to act and for some to do even more than they have been.

Nearly every aid component relied upon by the less fortunate in the town has been impacted from the lack of access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), to Head Start to Women, Infants and Children (WIC) services.

"It's affecting everybody, and not just the food portion of it," said Warren Prevention Coalition coordinator Maria Ursini, who has witnessed first-hand the amount of residents assisted by her coalition peer and the town's social services director, Ann Marie Roy.
