The state attorney's office has ruled that a Marion County Sheriff's deputy was legally justified in firing shots at a woman who shot at him while sitting in the back of his patrol vehicle on her way to the county jail in June.
In a letter, Chief Assistant State Attorney Walter Forgie told Sheriff Billy Woods that two state statutes are key.
