US airlines are preparing for the busiest Thanksgiving travel period on record, with more than 31 million passengers expected from Nov. 21 through Dec. 1. The day is more in focus this year after the government shutdown. Air-traffic controller shortages, winter weather and fuel-supply concerns could also cause delays.
