On a chilly Wednesday morning in November, Paul Doyle appeared a broken man. It was six months to the day since the events which ultimately led him to floods of tears in courtroom 41, and, a total of 31 times, he meekly repeated the same word.
There were moments when he was barely audible from beyond the glass panel of the dock and, at one stage, the judge even took pity on him and allowed him to sit down , such was the ferocity of his crying fit.
It took nearly 10 minutes but, slowly but surely, the dozens of the charges on the indictment was put to him . To each and every one, he replied : "Guilty."
