VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (HawaiiNewsNow) - No damages or injuries have been reported, but some residents and visitors were woken up by shaking following Kilauea’s latest eruptive episode.

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake rattled the Island of Hawaii late Tuesday night, the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported .

There is no tsunami threat or warning for the state after the quake struck the south flank of Kilauea.

HVO officials said the event showed no apparent impact on either Mauna Loa or Kilauea.

The quake occurred at 11:49 p.m. HST on November 25, 2025, about 9 miles south-southeast of Fern Forest. It originated roughly 3 miles below sea level.
