Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney knows what it takes to win in the ACC. The 56-year-old has won nine ACC Championships and two national titles since taking over the Tigers program midway through the 2008 season.

Swinney knows new Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin well and believes the former Penn State coach has what it takes to win at a high level in the ACC.

“I’ve known James for a long time, have a good relationship with him. Certainly will be great for our league,” Dabo Swinney said earlier this month. “And I think it’s a great fit.

“Similar recruiting footprint as far as what he’s been a part of for a long time. I’m happy for he and Fumi, his wife. I’ve spent a week with them every February for 15 years. So I’ve known them a long time.”
