BENTONVILLE -- The Bentonville City Council on Tuesday postponed making a decision on a proposal to further flesh out the city's public art process to prevent another months-spanning dispute from happening again.

The City Council voted 6-0 to table an amended version of Article 2-IX of the Municipal Code -- titled "Art in Public Places" -- that deletes and relocates certain sections of the code while adding new ones. The City Council also tabled a new public art policy for the city.

The tabling will give Shelli Kerr, city comprehensive planning manager, and Bonnie Bridges, city staff attorney, time to craft versions of the policy that offer different ways for dealing with concerns residents may have about art displayed on city property.
