Artificial intelligence is now a worldwide presence in many industries. Whereas in recent years document summarizing, basic motion writing, examination of transcripts, and issue-specific research had all been a reflection of an attorney’s early years of practice, such work nowadays is increasingly taking place with computer algorithms for artificial intelligence (AI). The challenge to young attorneys has therefore become: what role do I play if AI has the ability to do the “grunt work”? The answer is not to compete with AI in those domains where it shines.
