People gathered in the Frontenac County Court House for jury selection for various trials on Monday likely did not expect to see accused serial rapist Michael Haaima being rushed past them — but that is precisely what unfolded during an unusually chaotic morning of proceedings.
Haaima, 41, who faces 98 charges involving alleged violent offences against women and girls, has been on trial in Kingston Superior Court since late May 2025. With the trial stretching into its sixth month, Monday brought another unexpected disruption as illness appeared to take its toll on the accused.
