PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Energy is asking public utilities officials for their first distribution rate review since 2018.
The rates, which are the cost of delivering energy, could increase nearly five percent for electric customers using 500 kilowatt hours a month.
This adds up to approximately $7.78 per month.
The gas delivery cost increase would be significantly higher, with a potential spike of 21 percent per year, or $28.63 per month.
