MADISON (WKOW) — An apartment building on the city's east side was hit by gunfire early Wednesday morning.

Madison police responded to the incident on the 4500 block of Cottage Grove Road around 4:50 a.m., according to an incident report .

Shots were fired at the building, but no injuries were reported. A woman was taken into custody for assaulting someone in front of officers, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
