CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- As families prepare to gather for Thanksgiving, the Fairview Knights of Columbus in Chicopee is setting thousands of extra seats for community members who may not have a place at the holiday table.

The organization is preparing for their annual Thanksgiving Day dinner, with dozens of volunteers gathering at the Castle of Knights since Sunday to prepare meals for those in need. “Well, we are the Knights of Columbus. We’re there for people,” said Ron Grenier, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus 4044.

The organization has prepared more than 2,200 pounds of turkey and enough food to feed 3,000 people, Grenier explained. In addition to their dine-in service, they will provide approximately 1,500 meals to local food distribution centers including Kate’s Kitchen
