Amazon has issued a cyberattack warning to its estimated 310 million active users this year in the week leading to the annual Black Friday sale.
The online retail giant is both the leader for sales during the Black Friday event itself and as a target for scammers, hackers and other highly targeted cybercrime activity, reports Forbes.
The warning follows a new report that cybercriminals are targeting big brands, including Netflix and PayPal, using an impersonation process involving browser notifications and a criminal platform.
Apparently these cybercriminals are targeting Amazon users by reaching out to try to get “access to sensitive information like personal or financial information, or Amazon account details,” the company said in a Nov. 24 email.
