Intense new body camera footage shows Miami-Dade officers shooting an armed man during a confrontation in a park last year .

The footage obtained by NBC6 on Wednesday shows the March 20, 2024 shooting of Christian Roque.

Authorities said the incident began when officers spotted a vehicle with an expired tag commit multiple traffic infractions.

Officers tried to stop the car but the driver, Roque, fled before he eventually lost control and struck a parked vehicle and fence, officials said.

Roque fled the vehicle on foot while armed with a gun, and ran into Marva Y. Bannerman Park & Pool on Northwest 24th Avenue in Brownsville, where there were civilians and children, authorities said.

"Drop the gun, you're gonna get shot!" and officer yells in the footage. "Drop the gun!"
