WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A Columbia County woman who admitted she used her position as an elected official to steal nearly $150,000 of Conyngham Township funds was sentenced Wednesday to a year-and-a-day in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Brian D. Miller said.

Linda Tarlecki, 63, of Aristes, misappropriated more than $147,000 from the township by drafting duplicate payroll checks for herself and reimbursing herself for invented milage and supplies, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

Tarlecki served as a township supervisor between 2006 and 2018 and admitted in a federal court she stole township funds between 2013 and 2017.

Tarlecki pleaded guilty in July to bank fraud and income tax evasion. She did not pay income tax on the pilfered money, so she owed the Internal Revenue Service $38,000,
