SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Sarasota Police Department says it will have extra patrols on duty over the holiday to keep potential drunk drivers off the highways.

Police released body camera video of a recent traffic stop where the driver, who introduced himself to officers, was polite enough, but shouldn’t have been behind the wheel.

Police say he had a blood alcohol content level of 0.18. That’s more than twice the legal limit of .08.

Even with a BAC of .08, a driver can be impaired.

“We know the holidays bring more opportunities to kick back and relax with an adult beverage. But drinking and driving don’t mix,” the department said on social media.
