NAPANEE — Napanee District Secondary School is one of seven Ontario post secondary schools to share more than $600,000 in funding for the Special Olympics Ontario’s Unified Champion Schools program.
The program, funded by the the Ontario Ministry of Education, supports sport opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities and fosters inclusive, safe and accepting environments.
“Sport has the power to bring young people together, build confidence and foster inclusion,” Neil Lumsden, Ontario’s minister of sport, said in a news release.
“Our government is proud to support opportunities that help students thrive — on the field, in the classroom and in their communities,” Lumsden said. “Programs like Unified Champion Schools reflect the values of respect, belonging and opportunity
