It was announced at the Nov. 25 WIAA executive board meeting that the first ever Washington State Flag Football Championships will be held at Federal Way Memorial Field. The championship is scheduled for Feb. 13-14.

The first state sanctioned sport since bowling (1999), girls flag football has exploded in popularity, and now their state tournament has a home.

The field’s renovations were finished in 2023, and at the time, then Federal Way Director of Equity and Athletics Jerry Peterson said one of the goals of the renovation was to host playoffs and even state events.

1A, 2A, 1B/2B boys soccer will be hosted at Federal Way Memorial Field, and now girls flag football will join the party.
