LUZERNE — If you live in the borough, you’re likely aware that Main Street, usually adorned with Christmas lights during the holiday season, was noticeably dark last year.
But that’s about to change, thanks to Mayor Ron Reino and the Light Up Luzerne Committee, which came together this past summer and raised $30,000 to rewire Main Street and buy all-new holiday lighting displays for it, plus two additional locations in the borough.
Residents are invited to attend a celebration from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park, Bennett and Academy streets, to kick off the holiday season and see the new lights unveiled.
Additionally, the lights on Main Street will be turned on at 5 p.m.
