SPRINGFIELD — The ongoing construction at “The X” neighborhood won’t stop the Forest Park Civic Association from getting into the Christmas spirit on Tuesday.

“Even in the midst of major construction, Springfield’s Parks and Recreation Department is able to bring a festive mood to the center of our 01108 neighborhood,” said Kathy Post, association treasurer, in an email to The Republican.

Any construction activities for the day will end before the event begins, she added, and there will be DPW and officers present to help guide traffic.

Construction at “The X” — the intersection of Belmont and Sumner avenues and Dickinson Street — began in May, and the project, which will be completed in phases, is expected to take four years.
