Victor Hetherington, former president of the Nogales Police Officers Association, was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay full restitution after pleading guilty to computer tampering for stealing $39,150 from the union, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced.
Between 2018 and 2023, Hetherington accessed the association's bank accounts to transfer money to his personal accounts, pay credit cards, dine at restaurants, gamble at casinos and cover dental expenses, according to the attorney general's office. He completed 689 unauthorized transactions over five years, representing more than half the organization's operational budget during that period. ×
