HOUSTON – Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and nickel Jalen Pitre practiced again Wednesday and are in the final stages toward medical clearance under the NFL concussion protocol.
While both players have missed the past three games, they are on track to return Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. They remain under the concussion protocol and need consecutive practices and clearance from an independent neurologist to be officially cleared to play in a game.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans reiterated Monday that Stroud will start, once he’s cleared the protocol. Backup quarterback Davis Mills went 3-0 standing in for Stroud in wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills.
