DETROIT, Mich. (WILX) - The Detroit Lions have played at home on Thanksgiving Day every year since 1934.
When they take the field Thursday against the Green Bay Packers, the team will be dressed a lot like the teams that played in those early Thanksgiving games.
The Lions on Tuesday night officially announced they’ll be wearing their classic throwback uniforms: silver helmet with no logo, simplistic Honolulu Blue jerseys, plain silver pants and blue socks.
While the Lions frequently wore the throwbacks in the 2000s, the Lions last wore the look in 2023 when they lost to the Packers.
Thursday’s game is a pivotal one in Detroit’s season as the team pushes for a third straight NFC North title. The Lions (7-4) are in third place in the division, just behind the Packers (7-3-1) and Chicago
