The Patriots will be without a big piece of their offensive line for the next few weeks, as coach Mike Vrabel announced Wednesday rookie Will Campbell is headed to injured reserve.
Because of the timing of his placement on IR, Campbell is eligible to return to the field for the Patriots’ regular-season finale against the Dolphins.
Campbell, who exited Sunday’s win over the Bengals on a cart , is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain, according to a league source.
Vederian Lowe will start in place of Campbell for Monday night’s game against the Giants, Vrabel said. Rookie Marcus Bryant also “has to be ready to go,” Vrabel said.
Lowe filled in for Campbell on Sunday and started at left tackle last season.
To fill Campbell’s spot on the roster, the team is signing cornerback Miles
