WASHINGTON — A person is in police custody after a shooting in Northwest D.C. in which two National Guardsmen were reportedly wounded.
Very little information has been released at this time, but the DC Police posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that officers are investigating a shooting at 17th Street and I Street.
According to reporting from the Associated Press, citing a source, two National Guard members were shot, and their conditions are unknown.
Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the injuries on X, saying, "Please join me in praying for the two National Guardsmen who were just shot moments ago in Washington D.C."
DC Police confirmed that one person was taken into custody just before 3 p.m.
