AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Hundreds of passengers moved through local airport gates Wednesday morning as the Thanksgiving travel rush began in earnest.

Two sisters from New York were among those making emotional returns home for the holiday. Mercy and Gail Clark said their travel experience went smoothly despite full flights.

“It was good there weren’t any long lines, but the aircraft were definitely full day of flying,” Mercy Clark said. When asked if they were excited for Thanksgiving and happy to have family back together, Gail Clark responded with laughter, “Yes!”
