OTTAWA — As Liberals MPs tried on Wednesday to downplay concerns about any caucus divides about an impending energy deal between Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, B.C. Liberal MPs left a briefing from Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson with mixed reviews.

Hodgson briefed the Liberal B.C. caucus that morning, providing MPs a chance to field questions and receive an update on the state of negotiations of a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Carney and Smith, which could see Ottawa offer a conditional path for a new oil pipeline to British Columbia’s coast.
