PEORIA HEIGHTS ( 25News Now ) - Hunting season is back in Central Illinois, and one Peoria Heights meat company is busy helping hunters process their deer.

Hunting season in Illinois runs from October through mid-January. Last week, the state opened the shotgun season of 2025.

Co-owner of Alwan and Sons , Patrick Alwan, said they typically see higher volumes of deer during mating season, usually from the first or second week of October through mid-November.

The company processes around 1,000 to 1,500 deer each season. So far this year, they have handled about 800, which is on track with their usual average.
