The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release Wednesday afternoon:

At approximately 12:02 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1417 Main Blvd. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and observed significant smoke and flames coming from the structure. The fire was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported. The occupants of the home were safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. Following a thorough investigation, the cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical in nature. The home suffered an estimated $30,000 in damage.

The fire was under control in 18 minutes and units were on the scene for one hour and 13 minutes.
