In September, amid a wave of recognition by Western governments of the State of Palestine, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “I have a clear message to those leaders who are recognizing a Palestinian state after the horrendous Oct. 7 massacre: You are rewarding terror with an enormous prize. … There will be no Palestinian state to the west of the Jordan River.”
Only 27% of Israelis polled this summer by Gallup expressed support for a Palestinian state. I’m among the 27% because I think it’s the only way to ensure Israel’s future as a democratic and Jewish country. In fact, in 2019, Netanyahu himself eloquently expressed the importance of the creation of a Palestinian state for Israel, in a speech at Bar-Ilan University.
