ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — A man is facing charges after Orangeburg County deputies say he threatened a child who asked him for something to eat.
Thomas Baker, 44, is charged with unlawful conduct towards a child, deputies say.
A judge set bond for Baker at $25,000 on the charge, Deputy Richard Walker said.
Deputies responded Saturday to a home on Beason Road where Baker wanted an 11-year-old child to leave his property, Walker said.
Deputies said the boy told them he asked for something to eat and Baker responded with a profanity-laced threat.
Baker told deputies was being unruly.
“It reminds me of the verse in Matthew that asks if your son asks for bread who would give him a stone?” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “This boy didn’t even get a stone.”
