Nurse practitioners are playing a vital role in cancer patients’ treatment at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) amid growing demand for care, officials say.

LHSC is praising the work of its nurse practitioners at the Verspeeten family cancer centre that operates from Victoria Hospital for “enhancing patient access to timely, high-quality cancer care while supporting oncologists in delivering the best possible outcomes,” the centre said in a news release.

“Our program has been a means to kind of meet that demand and take some of the pressure off the oncologist clinics and move them to our own nurse practitioner-led clinics,” said Matthew Parezanovic, a nurse practitioner at the cancer centre.
