KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee is running charter buses to Nashville, Jackson and Memphis to help students get home for the holidays.
The program, which has operated for about 10 years, takes students across Tennessee during Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks. University officials said about 220 students boarded buses on Wednesday for the trip to Middle and West Tennessee. Spots on the bus sold out within 48 hours, prompting the university to add another bus.
“We’re welcoming about 220 students to board charter buses. We’re taking them to Jackson, Memphis and Nashville as a way of getting them home for the holiday,” said Joe Pierce, associate dean of students.
