HOQUIAM, Wash. — A 65-year-old Hoquiam woman has died after suffering a medical emergency that caused her to fall into a roadway Wednesday morning, according to Hoquiam Police .

Emergency crews were dispatched around 9:12 a.m. to what was initially reported as a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in the 500 block of Levee Street. When first responders arrived, they determined the woman had not been hit by a vehicle.

Instead, officials say she experienced a medical emergency and collapsed in the roadway. A bystander with medical training immediately began CPR until fire personnel arrived and took over lifesaving efforts.

The woman was being prepared for transport to Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital for further care, but officials later confirmed she did not survive.
