AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Officers Association (APOA) is helping make the holidays brighter for local children.

APOA will buy and donate up to $4,000 worth of bicycles for the Northside Toy Drive .

Officers will gather at Walmart Wednesday evening to buy and load hundreds of new bikes of all sizes.

This donation is part of the department’s ongoing support for the Northside Toy Drive , which provides Christmas gifts to children ages 2-12 in need across the community.

For those interested in donating new/unwrapped toys, there are several drop-off locations available across the city.

The season of giving also brings one of their biggest traditions, the Black Tie Affair, on Dec. 12 at the Amarillo Civic Center.
