BIG SKY — The winter season is officially underway at Big Sky Resort as hordes of skiers and snowboarders of all sizes and skills descended on opening day.
While much of the mountain remained a dirt brown, the resort poured significant effort into making snow, and conditions were superb for a pre-Thanksgiving start ... all things considered.
Spirits were high and outfits colorful as people lined up at the Ramcharger 8 lift, rode the tow line to terrain park or took a lesson on the bunny hill.
"It’s opening day! We’re out here skiing,” Adam West, the resort’s VP of operations, said. “We’re right on schedule. A little behind on natural snow but we’ve been really intentional about our investments in snowmaking and it’s really paying off.”
