A majority of about 22,000 members of the Health Sciences Association of Alberta have voted in favour of a new collective agreement that includes a 12 per cent wage increase over four years.

The union represents over 240 disciplines, including paramedics, laboratory technologists, addiction counsellors, pharmacists and occupational therapists.

Specific categories of workers will also see their paycheques rise further with one-time increases.

“This has been a difficult round of bargaining, and we thank all of you who took the time to participate in town halls, learn about the agreement and vote,” the union said in a statement, referring to its members.

“Thank you for speaking up, showing up and supporting each other through the last 20 months of negotiations.”
