TAMPA -- The Rays are working to add former Orioles manager Brandon Hyde to their baseball operations department, a source told MLB.com on Wednesday.
Hyde is expected to join Tampa Bay in a senior advisor role, offering support throughout the organization. The club did not confirm or comment on the potential addition of Hyde, and nothing is expected to be finalized until next week. FanSided’s Robert Murray first reported that Hyde was in talks to join the Rays.
Hyde most recently served as Baltimore’s manager, guiding the Orioles through a rebuild and back into the postseason. The 52-year-old was named American League Manager of the Year in 2023, when the Orioles won 101 games (two more than the Rays) to claim their first AL East title since 2014.
