MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - The Marshall County Regional Sewer District has voted to appeal an order to dissolve the organization, according to County Commissioner Jesse Bohannon.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) issued the dissolution order last month following requests from county leaders and residents who opposed the district’s sewer system plans.

Many county residents have said they do not want to be forced to connect to a sewer system when they already have functioning septic tanks.

Tom McFadden, president of the sewer district, said in our original WNDU 16 News Now I-Team report septic tanks are expensive to replace when they fail and a sewer system would be less costly long-term. McFadden did not respond to requests for comment about the dissolutio
