A New York man wanted in connection with a fraud case in Kodiak has been arrested in Ohio.
Alaska State Troopers say 25-year-old Malik Johnson was taken into custody on Tuesday at the Mahoning County Jail in Austintown, Ohio. Johnson faces charges stemming from a December 2024 phone scam in Kodiak, where he allegedly posed as a bank fraud investigator and convinced an elderly woman to make two large wire transfers, totaling more than $95,000.
Johnson was charged in September 2025 with first-degree theft and scheme to defraud. Troopers in Kodiak worked with multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, and New York State authorities, to locate him. He is now awaiting extradition back to Alaska.
Authorities say the investigation into the case is ongoi
