Meet Crowley police officer Kwaun Shaw.  He is a husband and father who’s been on the force for three and a half years.

Every day, Shaw gets up, puts on his uniform, and goes to work serving his community with pride.

“As close to amazing as possible,” Crowley Police Officer Kwuan Shaw said. “Everybody here is great. I mean, I love the people. Everybody’s like family.”

But many people don’t realize Shaw’s battling more than crime on the street.

“Right now, I’m in stage five kidney failure, and I’m currently on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant,” Shaw said.

He was diagnosed in June of this year, but he’s not letting it or dialysis keep him from doing his sworn duty.
