LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The city of Lincoln is making a push to shop locally this holiday season, with several community leaders gathering on Wednesday to share how residents can fuel the local economy.
At the Francie & Finch Bookshop near 13th and O streets, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird issued a proclamation marking Saturday, Nov. 29, as Small Business Saturday in Lincoln. She says that every time people shop locally, they contribute to the city’s quality of life.
“Our small businesses create jobs for our neighbors, they sponsor our children’s sports teams, they host neighborhood events that bring us together and they keep dollars circulating in our community,” Gaylor Baird said.
She also specified that for every $100 dollars spent at a local business, $68 will stay in the community, an
