YORKTOWN, Ind. — As families get ready to gather around the table for Thanksgiving, a group of teenagers in Delaware County is making sure that strangers have a warm meal to share.
Around 300 volunteers make up the crew behind “Madden’s Chicken-Giving.” Half of those volunteers are kids who hand packed 1,200 rotisserie chicken meals to deliver to 21 shelters and other locations.
“It’s really amazing to see grow,” said 17-year-old Madden Moore.
Moore is now in his fifth year of organizing Chicken-Giving. He was inspired to start the meal delivery after losing his wallet when he was 11. His mom posted on Facebook hoping to find it and people in the community ended up donating money. Moore took the money and bought rotisserie chickens. It was something his stepdad used to do when he lived
